Amitabh Bachchan, a Bollywood icon, has purchased a 25,000 sq ft land in Ayodhya for around ₹40 crore.
Amitabh Bachchan,
a Bollywood icon, has increased his real estate holdings in Ayodhya, the site
of the Ram Mandir, by purchasing a 25,000 square foot plot adjacent to The
Sarayu, a luxury plotted development by Mumbai-based real estate business The
House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL).
According to
HT.com, the acquisition is expected to cost around ₹40 crore.
HoABL declined to
comment on the transaction. The Bollywood celebrity could not be reached.
Bachchan invested
₹14.5 crore in 2024 for a 10,000 sq ft property in The Sarayu, HoABL's 7-star
mixed-use enclave in Ayodhya.
According to a
March 2025 TOI story, Bachchan purchased a 54,454-square-foot property
approximately ten km from the Ram Mandir under the name Harivansh Rai Bachchan
Trust. According to speculation, the property could be utilised to construct a
memorial to his father, the renowned Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and his
literary achievements.
According to a
source, Amitabh Bachchan invested ₹4.54 crore in a 5,372-square-foot property
in Haveli Avadh prior to the Ram Temple's inauguration in 2024.
The actor
purchased a 10,000 sq ft land parcel in Alibaug for ₹10 crore from HoABL,
boosting his luxury real estate portfolio.
Ayodhya
Real Estate Market
According to a
Liases Foras analysis titled "Ayodhya - A Rising Global Spiritual
Capital," the city's real estate market is fast changing, fuelled by
rising land values and increased interest in spiritual tourism and long-term
investment. According to the survey, land prices in Ayodhya have risen at a
CAGR of 19%, with a 25% increase expected by 2035.
Over the last five
years, Ayodhya's growth has been spurred by large-scale infrastructure projects
such as the international airport extension, enhanced road and rail
connectivity, and the Ram Mandir. According to the data, land values in crucial
regions like the Sarayu riverfront and the Ram Mandir corridor increased by
more than 4.5 times between 2020 and 2025.
The city is also
undergoing a hospitality boom, with more than 50 new hotel developments underway.
Leading luxury hotel brands, including The Leela, Taj, and The Oberoi, are
opening hotels in Ayodhya, confirming the city's status as a high-potential
destination.
The House of
Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), a branded land developer created in 2020, owns about
15 million square feet of built land and more than 30 million square feet of
ongoing development. HoABL has expanded to important cities in Maharashtra,
including Ayodhya, Goa, Alibaug, Anjarle, Dapoli, Neral, Khopoli, and Nagpur,
with further projects planned for Shimla, Amritsar, Varanasi, Vrindavan,
Khopoli, and Nagpur. It wants to expand to 48 cities in India.
