While DTCP has asked DLF to clear garbage, the duty between civic body and the department is still unclear in other colonies
DLF, the real estate behemoth, on Saturday began collecting construction trash and rubbish from DLF Phase 1 and Phase 2 on directives from the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) after a five-day enforcement drive, officials said.
DLF Utilities senior officials claimed that in
conjunction with DTCP, various teams had been sent in both colonies to remove
debris from internal roadways and encroachments within the right of way.
This comes after the enforcement wing of the DTCP launched a massive anti-encroachment drive in 17 residential colonies, including DLF phases 1 and 2, where hundreds of unlawful buildings, such as ramps, staircases, boundary walls, guard rooms and private parks on public property were destroyed. The department has also written to DLF to clear the debris from internal roadways in certain communities.
The municipal corporation and the DTCP are still to decide who will be responsible for debris clearing in all the 17 colonies, but DLF Utilities indicated that its exercise in the two colonies that it maintains is in sync with the action of the DTCP.
The drive began from E Block of DLF Phase 1, said Nitya Mohan, head of DLF Utilities Ltd (facilities and security), adding that it is underway in both colonies. “The exercise that is going on is aimed at removal of encroachments and the immediate removal of debris from public areas, green belts and road stretches to restore access, safety and planned use of infrastructure,” Mohan added.
All actions are being undertaken in coordination
with the concerned authorities and residents are requested not to re-encroach
so that long-term compliance and city upkeep can be maintained, added
Mohan.
DTCP officials said the anti-encroachment drive will continue in the coming weeks throughout all approved private colonies and a monitoring mechanism will be set up to prevent re-encroachment.
