HUDCO CMD: Loan book to reach ₹2 lakh cr mark in FY27
New Delhi, Aug 9 (PTI) State-owned infrastructure financing institution Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) anticipates its loan book to reach ₹2 lakh crore mark during the ongoing financial year on strong demand.
The company wants to raise ₹75,000 crore from domestic and global markets in the current fiscal for asset expansion.
Of this, the business has already mobilized Rs 20,000 crore in the first quarter and the remaining Rs 55,000 crore would be mobilized in the three quarters of FY27, HUDCO Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sanjay Kulshrestha told PTI.
On the domestic market fund raising front, the company expects to raise up to Rs 1,000 crore using Capital Gain Bonds beside Non-convertible Debentures and other avenues.
Last year the government had authorized the corporation to sell 54 EC Capital Gain Bonds and it raised some ₹120 crore during FY26.
Capital Gains Bonds are a form of investment instrument authorized by the Income Tax Act, 1961. Such bonds give a way for the individual to defer long-term capital gains tax when selling property or assets.
An investor who purchases these bonds can defer capital gains tax and benefit from a potentially reliable investment alternative.
On disbursement, Kulshreshtha said the corporation plans to release ₹65,000 crore throughout the whole financial year.
The company’s loan disbursements in the April-June period were the highest ever at ₹16,377 crore in a quarter and up 28 per cent over ₹12,812 crore in the same quarter last year.
On the aim for the loan book, he said it should be above ₹2 lakh crore during the fiscal as against ₹1.62 lakh crore in FY26.
The company expects to raise another USD 1.3 billion under the RBI concessional swap window open till December 31, 2026 on External Commercial Borrowings (ECB), said Kulshreshtha.
So far this financial year, we have raised USD 700 million thru External Commercial Borrowings. The balance of $1.3 billion would be raised in the next five months subject to financial demand," he added.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) created a special US Dollar-Rupee forex swap window in June to offer cheap currency hedging help to public sector enterprises (PSUs) raising ECBs.
The financial firm raised approximately JPY 700 million in Japanese Yen thru the ECB last year.
