In August 2026, work on the Delhi-Haryana-Rajasthan RRTS is scheduled to begin

Important adjustments have been made to the project's alignment from Delhi to Gurugram, according to a senior government official with knowledge of the situation.

The new detailed project (DPR) report from the executing agency, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), indicates that the regional rapid transport system (RRTS) project from Sarai Kale Khan to Shahjahanpur-Behror in Rajasthan, passing through Gurugram, is expected to start construction in August 2026 and be finished by November 2031.

The 102-kilometer project would cost ₹35,000 crore, according to the updated DPR, a copy of which HT was able to obtain. The Government of India and the state governments of Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana will split the cost.

According to the research, "Due to modifications in the alignment, stations, and other technical parameters, NCRTC has revised the DPR of the SKK-SNB corridor."

A top government official familiar with the matter claims that there have been major changes made to the project's path from Delhi to Gurugram. According to the revised design, the Namo Bharat train will now depart Aerocity proper and go via the Delhi-Gurgaon Motorway rather than the Old-Delhi Gurgaon route as was originally planned. The underground routing from Aerocity would follow NH-48 on the right side of the highway, stopping at Cyber City. According to the official, it would thereafter climb on the left side of NH-48, passing between Iffco Chowk and Signature Chowk.

Along with the route change, the report also presented a draft construction schedule for the RRTS corridor. According to the schedule, the general consultants for the project, who will serve in a similar capacity as the chief designer and contractor, will be selected between December 2025 and May 2026; the land acquisition will be completed between December 2025 and November 2027; the detailed design and preliminary investigation will be finished between December 25 and November 2027; and the construction of elevated structures will occur between August 2026 and August 2030.
