Residents have reported that unfinished land
acquisitions have left 24-meter sector roads incomplete. Consequently,
societies are now dependent on the narrow village roads for their access needs.
Residents in sectors bordering the Dwarka
Expressway, together with their Resident Welfare Associations, voiced their
concerns on Sunday. They insisted that the government should shoulder the
responsibility of building the 24-meter internal sector roadways.
At a press conference hosted by the Dwarka Expressway Gurgaon Development Association (DX GDA), representatives from the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) voiced their concerns. They pointed out that the failure to acquire smaller land parcels was a significant obstacle, preventing the construction of several roadways and, consequently, causing a substantial infrastructure bottleneck.
An internal sector road is essentially a
planned local road, designed to link smaller areas and facilitate movement
within a larger urban sector.
"Roads are vital for an area's
development. The Dwarka Expressway's completion has reshaped New Gurugram. Yet,
the incomplete 24-meter internal roads in sectors adjacent to the Dwarka
Expressway, and elsewhere in the city, are a significant problem," stated
Sunny Daultabad, convenor of Dxp GDA.
Numerous societies, housing over a thousand flats each in the developing sectors, relied on village revenue roads to access their homes.
Our community has roughly a thousand flats,
the majority of which are currently occupied. Residents rely on an 11-fert road
to reach their condominium, explained Alok Pandey, president of the Raheja
Vedanta RWA.
According to residents, significant traffic snarls were concentrated in sectors 112, 99A, and 109. "Residents of the India Habitat society in sector 99A are experiencing difficulties because the construction of the 100-meter stretch remains unfinished, stalled by a land dispute. Most of the land-related issues are confined to small parcels," stated Sunil Sarin, deputy convenor of DXP GDA.
According to government officials, developers
are tasked with building internal sector roads, while the government agencies
are responsible for the master roads.
RS Bhath, the district town planner for the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), stated, "The construction of internal sector roads falls to the builders. However, I will speak with the residents, and we can bring this up with the appropriate authorities at the policy level within the government. Road construction is a top priority for all agencies," he added.
