A video posted by an Indian man, which compared property prices in New Zealand and India, has ignited a spirited conversation online. Social media users are now weighing in on the relative costs of housing, the quality of life in each country, and the state of urban infrastructure.
A comparison that drew eyes
The Instagram post, courtesy of Gautam Malik, features him in front of a vast villa in Christchurch. In the video, Malik asserts the property's worth at ₹45 crore. He then draws a contrast with Indian real estate, suggesting that the same sum wouldn't even buy a flat in certain areas of Gurgaon.
Malik, as the video unfolds, points out the benefits he sees in the New Zealand property. He argues that the price tag encompasses access to stunning landscapes, a more considerate populace, freedom from waterlogging, and cleaner air. His comments serve to draw a wider comparison between the living conditions in Indian cities and the lifestyle available in places such as New Zealand.
Social media is buzzing
The Instagram video has racked up over 700,000
views, sparking a flurry of comments.
One viewer wrote, "This hits hard because it's spot-on for anyone searching for a home in Indian cities these days." Another added, "Quality of life is what really matters, not just the square footage." A third comment noted, "Gurgaon prices are crazy, but you also have to consider employment opportunities and how close you are to work."
Not everyone saw the parallels, however.
"Different countries, different economies," one individual observed.
"You can't just make a direct comparison." Another chimed in,
"New Zealand is lovely, sure, but migrating there and finding comparable
job prospects isn't exactly a walk in the park." A third voice added,
"Infrastructure and planning are game-changers. That's what Indian cities
need to focus on."
