The GDA will also float tenders for the
construction of a four-laned Outer Ring Road of 6km to ensure access to the
township.
Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) officials said on Wednesday that the
first phase of the Harnandipuram housing plan at Raj Nagar Extension on a
48-hectare land parcel will be started in September.
The complete city would be built on 501 hectares distributed across the eight
villages of Mathurapur, Shamsher, Champat Nagar, Bhaneda Khurd, Nagla Firoz
Mohanpur, Bhovapur, Shahpur Nij Morta and Morta.
The authority said it has acquired land
through direct purchase from farmers and other landowners.
The administration recommended the first
phase to be launched on roughly 120-130 hectares of land from five communities
in May, 2025.
But the authority had problems in acquisition
of contiguous plots of land and later opted to go ahead with the project with a
lesser size, authorities added.
The first phase will be inaugurated in
September with a continuous patch of 48 hectares. Over the next two months we
will be adding two more land pieces of a comparable size. “So, the first phase
development will cover 150 hectares by the end of 2026,” GDA vice-chairperson
Nand Kishor Kalal told HT.
In its board meeting on May 15, the GDA
approved a proposal for acquisition of land from the remaining three villages
of Bhovapur, Morta and Shahpur Nij Mort via direct purchases.
The patch-wise launch in phase one has been
proposed as the GDA need continuous land chunks for the township and needs to
avoid environmental clearance concerns required for bigger projects.
“Environmental clearances take a long time and may hold up work,” stated an
officer from the GDA.
"The township is being built at an estimated budget of Rs 2,384
crore," the officials added.
“We will float tenders to build a 6km
four-laned Outer Ring Road to ensure proper connectivity to the township. The
project will cost around ₹90 crore and the road would connect the present
Hindon elevated road to Harnandipuram township, the projected international
cricket stadium and a nearby aerocity-themed development. “The road tender is
likely to be floated on Thursday,” Kalal added.
Tenders for a 1.6km four lane flyover from Shastri Nagar to Sanjay Nagar
bypassing the key Hapur Chungi crossing would also be floated within next day
or two, the authorities added.
The project has been budgeted at a cost of
₹120 crore and will help ease traffic concerns for commuters moving from NH-9
and Hapur Road towards the Delhi Meerut Road and Raj Nagar Extension, said
Kalal.
